Over the past nine months I have replaced the same part on my vehicle three times. Once on my old car and now twice on my new car. Frustrating, I know, especially because it’s not the cheapest thing out there to replace. It is called a plastic housing for the coolant system. After replacing it now for the third time, I decided to ask the Lord if there was a lesson that He wanted me to learn through these experiences. I heard Him explain something to me but was not sure if that was what it was.
So later on in the day I was driving in my car thinking about what the Lord had said. I asked Him if it really was Him and as I was thinking the question a song came on the radio by Casting Crown. One line in the song was “Are we happy plastic people under shiny plastic steeples…” and my impression from the Lord was confirmed. It wasn’t an easy word to hear but I needed the rebuke. He was explaining to me how recently I have been trying to put on a fake, plastic front trying to be everyone else. I would see other people’s giftings and callings and want to be them instead of using the gifts that the Lord has placed in me. He said “I have given you these gifts for a purpose and no one else can do what you are created for. You need to do your part and not worry about being someone you are not. Your body and heart is My temple but you have put a wall up keeping Me from molding you into what I have called you to. Stop trying to be someone else and embrace the gifts in you.” Ouch! Yes, it hurt for a little but I am realizing that it is an invitation to joy and happiness as I fully walk out His calling in my life and stop comparing myself to others.
As the Lord has challenged me, I now bounce the ball back onto your court. Have you been trying to be someone you are not? Are there giftings and callings on your life that you are scarred to walk out in because it is not what others are doing? Are your real giftings being shaded by a facade of what you want to be instead of who you are supposed to be? I challenge you to ask the Lord what you are really called to and then do it with everything that you are. There is joy and happiness in doing the will of God.

Good word, Angie. Thanks!
The Lord continues to work on me to do the very thing you say. BE WHO YOU ARE!! It’s getting exciting to just enjoy the freedom that comes with being who I am no matter what anyone else does or says. It is a challenge every day to be bold but I am finally getting it that it is not always easy and rosy, I have to FIGHT!!!
My 4 year old grandson had a word picture for me a few months ago that I think catapulted me into “trying” to be diligent in the things I have been called to, or at least, get re-acquainted with what that really is. He saw a butterfly that needed to be colored and a flower that needed to be colored and crayon that’s not coloring. He knew it was for Nanni!!
Blessings on you as you continue to walk in God’s truth about who and how precious and unique you are in His kingdom!!
Hey, this reminds me of a conversation the other night about how we worship… and where/how we meet with God… it doesn’t look the same from person to person.
Jimmy, the site looks great! I looked at every part, haha. I’d say it’s time to throw up some videos in the media section. Holler. Ha. Great work. See you around.
(Sorry I commented here. I didn’t know where to make this general comment. Maybe you could direct me.)
Great revelation Angie. The Lord disciplines those He loves. You are loved! *grinning*
A good example of this walking in the gifts that He gave you would be the night you, Shirley and I ministered to that group of people. We each had something to share and add to the picture & purpose that He had for those individuals. As individuals, we each had a piece or part of the picture. As three of us worked together He revealed His bigger picture to that person. We each had a different style & gifting and it was such a picture, for me, of the Body of Christ working together in what He has called us to do as individuals.
Jimmie,
I saw this and thought of your topic last night…..
Anger and Love
Anger seeks revenge
Love seeks healing
Anger spouts lies
Love speaks truth
Anger shouts loud
Love whispers softly
Anger rips at the soul
Love saves the soul
Anger causes others pain
Love causes others joy
Anger stoops low to solve problems
Love looks for higher ground
Anger lays down the law
Love breaks down strongholds
Anger is senseless in its methods
Love strives to make sense of a senseless world
Anger echoes carelessness
Love reflects from a caring heart
Anger solves problems only in the mind
Love works wonders in heart, body, and soul
Anger ruins the world
Love saves the day
Anger darkens the spirit
Love brightens the world
