Embark School of Prayer
In our prayer and presence-focused school, we provide a space for students to encounter God, be equipped in the Word, and empowered by the Spirit. There is nothing sweeter than getting to know Jesus in the secret place and learning to pray what is on His heart.
We believe that committing to a lifestyle of spiritual discipline and prayer will lead you to constant, fiery intimacy with God. You will receive training in prayer, fasting, prophecy, healing, intercession and more. Thursday evenings include teaching from gifted speakers, table groups, and prayer room activation.
Embark is multi-generational, open to anyone 11th grade and up. Whether you are in the midst of high school, raising a family, or in retirement, you are invited to join us in the passionate pursuit of God!
Embark Components
Prayer Room Hours — The most important part of Embark is your time alone with God. You will spend 10 hours each week in the prayer room to encounter Holy Spirit in greater ways than you could ever imagine! Every year He powerfully meets students who are hungry and thirsty for Him.
Equipping and Activation — Thursday evenings from 6-9pm are equipping and activation nights at Gateway. There will be teachings on various topics about how to grow in prayer, be grounded in Scripture, and establish spiritual disciplines that enable you to grow in your relationship with God for the rest of your life! There will also be table conversations to connect with other students, and prayer activation in the Prayer Room to practice what you are learning.
Journaling — You will be asked to submit a journal entry each week in Embark. Journal entries include ways God is speaking to you, things He is teaching you, and an overview of how you are growing.
Fasting from Food and Media — Students fast from solid food one day each week. There is also one full week of fasting food together in the middle of Embark. Our desire is that you learn the beauty and grace found in this discipline, and hunger more for the Presence of God than food itself. *If you have health issues that make it difficult to fast, please speak to the leaders during the school.
We also ask that you fast media for all 10 weeks of the school. This includes TV, movies, any secular music, gaming consoles, social media, etc. You are free to use media or the internet for work, education, or purchases. When in doubt, check in with the Embark leaders.
Life Challenges — Life challenges are practical opportunities to stretch your faith and obey the voice of Holy Spirit throughout the school. Some examples include; praying for friends, taking thoughts captive, and asking God for specific ways to be salt and light in the places He has planted you.
Mentors — All Students will be paired with a mentor to meet with twice a month during the school. It is a great way to process what you are learning and be encouraged. *If you already have a mentor that you would like to keep during Embark, please make note of this on your application.

EMBARK SCHOOL OF PRAYER Testimonies
I came to Embark desiring more healing, more presence and new ways of being. Jesus gently highlighted areas in my heart that needed to be surrendered and given first place back to Jesus. The week long fast almost kept me from committing to Embark, but it was the very thing that caused Holy Spirit conviction and repentance. I’m grateful to Jesus that I am a life that has been changed so that rivers of living water will flow from within me.
— Deb M.
Embark began with surrender and searching and it has ended in worship and growing intimacy. God has been so faithful and really has shown up.
I have rested in the Father’s arms, sat next to Jesus in the glow of his presence, and have not only received, but also experienced, the baptism of the Holy Spirit. I’m no longer a slave to striving but now a much loved son of the Father.
— Garth S.
Before Embark, I had drifted away from the Lord. He wasn't first place in my life like He was before. Throughout Embark, God met me in ways I never knew were possible. He restored my identity fully in Him and purified my heart. He knew exactly what I needed and that was more of Him. God encapsulated me in His love, in His presence and in deeper intimacy with Him. I will forever be changed; He transformed my life and revealed Himself to me in ways that I never thought were possible. I love Him with an undying love. I am willing to look like a fool for Him because He is worthy of all of me. I am excited to see the mountain tops and valleys He'll take me to and all the lives He will touch through me.
— Ellie M.
Starting week one, God gave wisdom and insight into staying in the throne room while living life here. By the middle, he exposed and replaced irritation with joy in regards to my coworkers. By the end he was exposing to me the need to be a father and bring others into relationship with Him, not just salvation but relationally.
